Ravinder S. Bhalla serves as Of Counsel to Lavery, Selvaggi, Abromitis & Cohen, P.C. Prior to his election as Mayor of the City of Hoboken, Mr. Bhalla had established a well earned reputation as a seasoned litigator and trial attorney in the areas of complex civil litigation, local government law, employment and civil rights law, and criminal defense law. Mr. Bhalla's expertise in complex civil litigation includes the successful handling of a variety of matters in the areas of trademark litigation, energy law, corporate disputes, securities litigation and investigations before the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, and land use and zoning litigation on behalf of private corporations. Mr. Bhalla's expertise in employment law includes counseling employees and employers in the area of compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, internal investigations of complaints of workplace discrimination, investigations of Title VII claims and proceeding brought before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and federal and state courts.
As Of Counsel to the Firm, Mr. Bhalla offers insight sought by the firm's clients and employees. He provides strategic advice on a variety of corporate and transactional matters. Mr. Bhalla also offers professional mentorship and guidance to the Firm's younger attorneys in the areas of litigation and trial tactics.
Mr. Bhalla graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Psychology; the London School of Economics with a Masters of Science in Public Administration and Public Policy; and a Juris Doctor degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. Mr. Bhalla is a Trustee of the New Jersey Association of the Federal Bar and is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C.
